Macrolane

Many women notice a change in the consistency of their breast tissue after completing their families. There is a definite loss of firmness and there may be drooping as well. Similar changes are seen after weight loss, and also with ageing. Others have never had much breast tissue at all. Many would like to do something, without actually needing a general anaesthetic and the accompanying downtime of breast enlargement surgery. Many have dreamed about something that could help firm up their breasts with minimum inconvenience; something that looked so natural only they would know they weren’t wearing a gel, push-up bra. Well, it has all come true. MACROLANE is here.

Macrolane is made of synthetic Hyaluronic acid. It is not made from any animal substance and is similar to a naturally occurring substance in the body. Macrolane is the first cousin of Restalyne, a tried and tested product used to fill in the wrinkles and furrows of ageing. It is safe and has excellent product support.

It has been modified to form a gel that can be injected beneath the breast tissue and above the muscle. It is absorbed slowly and last for up to one year, requiring a top up injection.Breasts can be enlarged by one cup size through a tiny slit below each breast in a procedure that takes around 45 minutes under local anaesthetic.

Only specially trained practitioners are allowed to perform either Restalyne or Macrolane injections. The breast is a specialised organ. It is not just an appendage. A surgeon routinely operating on the breast is the best person to consult about this procedure. Your status including health and medication, risks of breast cancer and suitability for the procedure need to be carefully considered. A full family history needs to be sought. Women of a certain age should have a baseline mammogram. The quality of the breast tissue needs to be examined.

Sadly not all women are appropriate for this form of treatment. Excessive drooping and stretch marks, heavy breasts and unrealistic expectations may all be reasons for unsuitability. The most appropriate candidates are women who have very little breast tissue (A cups) or who have lost their breast firmness, or who may have a little drooping (B or C cups) and would be happy with just one cup size increase.
